Kingsbury

June 24th (Cubs) - We were fortunate enough to be invited to the RSPB site at Middleton Lakes this evening. With fine, clear skies overhead, set off to see and hear the wonders that were housed in the reserve. With the site still being developed, the pack were lucky enough to be able to see many different types of birds, and see the habitats of other kinds of wildlife. Many thanks to our friends at Middleton for allowing our pack into the reserve.

June 17th (Cubs) - 1st Kingsbury AGM. Many thanks to all of the parents who took the time and trouble to attend. Again, thanks to all the Dirstrict visitors. Hopefully you all got some appreciation of how much fun the Beavers, Cubs and Scouts have. Thanks to the Scouts for serving the tea and coffee afterwards. Jolly well done to the Beavers for their poem, and to the Cubs who doubted that the parents would get up and dance like a Chicken, Balerina and Banana - told you so!

June 10th 2009 (Cubs) - Spent the whole session have in a laugh and being loud. Very loud. Played games that involved running about and being a bit silly. Managed to get some order to practice a bit of a song for our AGM next week. Parents, visitors and guests, you are in for a treat! I warn you now, audience participation might be required.

June 3rd 2009 (Cubs) - After the half-term break we played games. A lot of them involved tying knots. Or not in some cases. We had a pack discussion on what song we were going to try to put together for the AGM. Oh dear it is going to be loud.

June 1st 2009 (Beavers) - Took the little people to the Water Park. Fortunately the weather was on our side. The purpose was to try to see what wild life was on our door-step that we take for granted and don't notice. Thanks to one of the cubs, Eddy, for leading a good marching song on the way back!

May 18th 2009 - (Cubs) - All Cubs, Leaders and helpers would like to thank the District for the fantastic weekend we have all just had on District Camp. While it is true that we have come back with man-flu, swine flu and trench foot, a grand time has been had by all. We would also like to give big thanks to all the other leaders who helped run the bases and make it an enjoyable weekend for all the young people. Taking my boys to school this morning, I noticed that some of the cubs were "going banana's" on the play-ground. I think we might have started something....

BRAVO!

23rd February 2009 (Beavers) - The pack spent the night icing fairy cakes. They weighed out the butter and the icing sugar and took it in turns to mix it all up. they then took it in turns to bash some flakes up. Each Beaver had two cakes to cover in icing, then they put Smarties on the top to decorate them. Then the cheeky monkeys wanted to sit and eat them!

The session was finished off with a couple of basic games.

11th February 2009 (Cubs)- The session was about games tonight. We started off with a couple of quick games taken by the leaders. Then it was over to the pack. The individual sixes were charged with making and running their own games. All three games were entirely different - 1 active, 1 general knowlwedge and 1 agility.

The session ended with the pack investing and welcoming two new members. One of our pack also gained his collectors badge, by taking us through his very impressinve collection of football cards.

After Grand Howl, we all broke up for the half term break. Next session on 25th February.

4th February 2009 (Cubs) - After being congratulated for their individual and collective efforts at the swimming gala, we played some games. Very silly games, noisy games, but most importantly, fun games.

We then talked about charity. We spoke about what it means, who benefits from it, different types of charity and different ways that charitable organisations are organised. In their sixes, the pack then had to propose their own charity, explain what it was for, etc. In a "Dragons Den" style finale, the sixes then had to present their charity to the leaders to try to get some imaginary money of us. Two packs presented animal based charities and the third one presented an army widows charity. They were questioned about their motives and the packs had obviously thought about their presentation, and they had quite clearly taken notice of charities and advertisments that so often get passed over.

Wrapped up the session with a couple more quick games and said "goodnight" to everyone.

1st Kingsbury (Cubs) are delighted with their win in the swimming gala at Peaks on Saturday 31st January. We would like to thank the District for the organisation and Peaks for the use of their facilities.

All of the team and the other competitors enjoyed the evening and the support from the parents was fantastic.

The Kingsbury pack leaders would like to congratulate the team for a fantastic effort and the hard work put in on the night.

We look forward to meeting our competitors on camp later on in the year.
